THE PROJECT BRIEFLY: (some information about the project itself)

Roman town of Forum Sempronii was established by Gens Sempronia around the second half of II century B.C., according to sources it was Sempronius Graccus to start this town as member of the commision "Agri dandis, adsignandis, iudicandis" as we know from an inscription found near Fanum Fortunae (modern town of Fano, 20 km eastwards at the seaside).
Urbanization development had been influenced by the major Roman road Via Flaminia which went through Forum Sempronii and lean on the south border of the main plaza, the Forum.
At the moment are currentely under excavation the workshop areas along the main Decumanus (via Flaminia) and Domus of Europa along Cardus of Seviri Augustales, the aim for this season is to open a small excavation at the amphitheater area and forum area.
This town is very well preserved because during Greek-gotic war between 535-565 A.D. the inhabitants left the town, too much exposed to raids and pillages, to live on the top of a near hill, where now you can visit the medieval Fossombrone town.
